Tunes Band Setup: Pair It and Start a Group Call

The Tunes Band works like any Bluetooth headphones, so setting it up takes a few minutes and needs no app. Do it at home or in the lodge, gloves off, rather than for the first time on the chairlift.

1. Charge it

Charge the band fully before your trip. The manufacturer quotes about 2 hours for a full charge and up to 6 hours of music from it. Cold drains every battery faster, so charge it the night before and top it up over lunch on long days.

2. Pair it with your phone

Switch the band on.
Open Bluetooth on your phone (iPhone: Settings, then Bluetooth; Android: Settings, then Connected devices).
Pick the band from the list. After the first time, it usually reconnects by itself when you switch it on near your phone.

3. Fit it under your helmet

Put the band on first, with the speakers lined up over your ears, then put your helmet on over it. It's made to sit flat under a ski helmet, with the speakers resting over your ears.

4. Start the group call

This is the bit that turns headphones into an intercom. Everyone in your crew wears a band, and one of you starts a call:

Your phone: an ordinary phone conference call works too.

Then put your phone in an inside chest pocket, where it stays warm and close to the band.

5. On the mountain

Volume low. Keep it low enough to hear someone talking next to you without them shouting. Awareness first, music second.
Agree a meeting point. The call works wherever your phones have signal, so pick a lift or a spot to meet if it drops in a low-signal gully.
Use the buttons. The controls on the band are easy to find by feel, so you rarely need your phone out.

If something isn't working

The band isn't in your phone's list: switch Bluetooth off and on again, then look for it again.
You can't hear your mates: check the call's audio is going to the band, not your phone's speaker (tap the audio button on the call screen).
They can't hear you: make sure no other headphones are connected to your phone at the same time.
